Camera Shots

Wide Shot

I took this photo in wide shot format to demonstrate how alone this my friend Sebastian is. In the photo, you can see all the students leaving him behind in the dust. The stairs are also empty to his right displaying that no else attempted to talk to him. Seb is sitting down in the photo, showing his acceptance of his situation. His body language shows that he is serious. Also, his clothes and glasses makes him look like a nerd or an outcast.

 Mid Shot

This photo was taken in the mid shot format to display the focus I have on a subject. I am wearing a soccer jersey, so we can guess that I am looking at the ball or player. My mouth is open, showing that I may be tired or fatigued from a previous play. You can see a goal in the background, so we know that I am on a soccer field and in a real game. My shirt has a little bit of dirt, meaning that I am working hard and fighting to win. Also, the sky looks white and a little orange, so the game took place later in the afternoon. This means it is hot outside, further explaining why I have my mouth open to recover.

Extreme Wide Shot

I took this photo in the extreme wide shot form to show the setting and environment I am in. As you can see, the mountains look huge and vast. This makes smaller details less important. This shot can be used for an opening scene to do what I aimed to do with it. This shot was taken in Indio, California.

                                                                  Close Up
I used the close up format to capture the the person's disconnect to the camera, and how they seem to be thinking to the future or about something else. She is looking away, meaning that she might have had something catch her eye, or she is dreaming. This close up format was the best to show that her mind was somewhere else in this exact moment.

Medium Full Shot
I used the medium full shot to capture this picture because it shows the background compared to his expression and body language. The sky is blue, meaning it is around the afternoon and probably hot. The boy is wearing swimming goggles and trunks, so we can infer he is going to the pool. This may be why he is smiling and happy to be going for an afternoon swim.

About Me

About Me
Hey, my name is Santiago Giraldo and I am 15 years old. I play soccer for South Florida Football Academy. My hobbies are fishing, playing video games, watching movies, and trying new foods. Things I want to do in the future are become a professional soccer player, travel the world, and become successful. I was born here in Florida, but my family is from Colombia. I am in 10th grade and am planning to go to college. My birthday is May 3, 2010. My favorite food is pasta but I also enjoy may foods. I like to go to theaters to watch new movies almost every week, especially with my sister. My favorite candy is Haribo Gummy Snakes. My favorite brand is Nike and hope to be sponsored in the future by them. I want to travel across Europe and South America to learn more about the world. I live in a family of 4 with an older sister who I enjoy doing a lot of things with.

Why I Chose this Course
I chose this course because I wanted to learn more about films and the production that goes into creating them. My dad is a cameraman and an editor, so taking this course could help me learn how to use a camera and how to edit clips and other things necessary in this field. Also, I chose tis class so I could get closer to completing 7 AICE courses necessary for the Bright Futures Scholarship. I have always liked film so this would help me understand and enjoy the details that directors implement to create good movies.
